I have loved to draw since I picked up that first writing utensil... I was lucky- honestly, I was born with a gift. I've always been able to draw & create. It comes easy.
From Elementary School where I won three scholarships to "Saturday School" at Columbus College of Art and Design...to Middle School where I began winning poster contest after poster contest.. and High School where I designed the majority of anything (from t-shirts, posters & programs) for four years... I created a lot of cool things as a kid. I even designed my towns bicentennial logo... of which the local police department commissioned me to design their arm patch! (Can't forget that one!) Such an honor to do.
Since I have competed in national contests through my employment. Example... The Idaho Potato Commission crowned me a champion in 2013, 2014,2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018! (3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 8th, 1st! and 5th in the United States- competing against thousands of other produce retailers) My displays brought national exposure to a local grocery chain and gave me national exposure as a artist in retail.
I love art and I love books. Illustrated books have always been a passion of mine. Whether it was illustrating my own stories in school or diving into a new comic book and getting lost in that world played out in it's art and story- I knew it was something I would love to do myself FOR REAL. Publishing was the next step. So I did that. I began self-publishing my own illustrated children's books in 2010. (you can find those featured on this website!) It is something I'll never stop doing.
Seeing the look in a kid's eye, the same look I once had,
and hearing a parent tell me how much they enjoyed my work is such an amazing thing.
